  • No longer at maker labs - kept for posterity in case we get another

The space has one Cisco SGE2010 (Linksys branded) 48 port gigabit Layer 2 Ethernet switch.

The fans are a bit noisy (probably don't need as much airflow as we're not driving all 48 ports!) which may be distracting when doing quiet tasks at Little House - aftermarket fan replacements exist if someone feels swapping the fans as a worthy investment.

The office-installed switch is normally on Little House internal IP address 172.31.187.4 and is running the latest available firmware.

Note: MAC addresses for the two switches (Getting addresses via DHCP):

 00:1e:e5:b0:59:58 for Cisco SGE2010-1
00:1e:e5:ac:df:a1 for Cisco SGE2010-2 Now at Surrey & Hampshire Makerspace!

Features:

  • Management via ssh, http, and https
  • Wall or Rack-mountable form factor
  • Limited lifetime warranty for hardware maintenance (although possibly impossible to use due to the second-hand nature of this switch)
  • Auto MDI-X wiring negotiation eliminates the need for crossover cables
  • SNMPv3 capable
  • 802.3ad / LACP link aggregation capability
  • SNTP clock
